WRITING POEMS A LA SHONA SCULPTING

See the February 1, 2005 post on my primary blog for the poetics underlying my new series, "The Masvikiru Quatrains." It has 65 parts, and I offer the first poem below. As explained in my primary blog "The Chatelaine's Poetics", this series' source text is Jukka-Pekka Kervinen's new poetry collection, cornucopia. Just as the Zimbabwean Shona sculptors chip away from stone to release the spirits they sense residing in those stone blocks, I'd written these quatrains from Jukka's poem, that is, after being visited by the "spirit medium" of music simmering from cornucopia's density as a long prose poem.
